Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) marked Environment Week 2025 with a range of eco-friendly activities across its dealerships and manufacturing plants nationwide, starting on World Environment Day, June 5. The week-long initiative culminated in an event at Hindon Honda in Ghaziabad, attended by key leaders from HMSI, including Sheshank Razdan, General Manager, Regional Business Central, and Ravikumar Annasaheb Firagannavar, General Manager, Regional Business Central-Customer Service.
In line with the theme of this year’s World Environment Day, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” HMSI organized various initiatives, including sapling distribution at dealerships, campaigns to raise awareness about plastic pollution, and tree planting activities across several cities and towns, with over 1.25 lakh saplings planted. The company also set up free Pollution Under Control (PUC) check-up camps to encourage cleaner vehicle use.
In its 25th year in India, HMSI recently surpassed 70 million units in cumulative production since it began local manufacturing in 2001, contributing to Honda’s global milestone of 500 million two-wheelers produced since 1949. HMSI remains committed to Honda’s global environmental goals, focusing on carbon neutrality, clean energy, and resource efficiency through the Triple Action to ZERO initiative.
The Environment Week activities also included employee participation in plantation drives and educational sessions, aiming to promote sustainable practices both in the workplace and within local communities. On the operational front, HMSI is increasing its reliance on renewable energy.
The Narsapura plant in Karnataka already meets 98% of its energy needs through renewable sources, with plans to expand this initiative across other facilities. Furthermore, all four of HMSI’s plants operate as Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) units and are equipped with rainwater harvesting systems. Notably, the Narsapura plant largely relies on harvested rainwater to meet its water needs.
