Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) partnered with the Hyderabad Traffic Police to host a six-day Summer Camp at the Hyderabad Traffic Training Park, reaching over 750 students aged 10 to 15. The camp focused on teaching traffic laws, pedestrian safety, and proper road behavior through hands-on activities and simulations.

The initiative, part of HMSI’s “#SaferIndiaOn2Wheels” program, gave students practical experience in real traffic scenarios to build safe road habits. The camp emphasized awareness and responsibility in navigating roads. In addition to safety training, the camp featured personal development activities, including self-defense, painting, dance, music, handwriting improvement, and personality development, providing a well-rounded learning experience.

This program supports the Government of India’s goal to reduce road accident fatalities by 50% by 2030 and aligns with Honda’s global mission to achieve zero traffic fatalities by 2050. HMSI also runs similar training programs at 10 Traffic Training Parks and 6 Safety Driving Education Centers across the country.

HMSI has already reached over 97 million people through its road safety initiatives. Their training includes educational sessions on traffic rules and safety gear, virtual simulations of road hazards, danger prediction exercises, and skills development for riders.

To broaden their reach, HMSI has introduced E-Gurukul, a digital platform offering age-specific road safety lessons for children aged 5 to 18. The platform is available in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and English.

Road safety remains a major issue in India, which reports one of the highest traffic fatality rates globally. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways states that India records over 150,000 road accident deaths annually, with two-wheeler riders representing a significant portion of these casualties. Educational programs targeting young people are key to fostering long-term safety habits, and HMSI’s focus on youth education is a proactive step toward tackling India’s road safety challenges.
