Hitachi India has announced the appointment of N Venu as Managing Director, effective June 2, 2025. This follows the promotion of Bharat Kaushal, who became the first Indian Managing Director of Hitachi, to the position of Executive Chairman of Hitachi India starting April 1, 2025. N Venu will take on the role of MD while continuing in his current position as Managing Director & CEO of Hitachi Energy India and Region Head for South Asia at Hitachi Energy.
In his new role, N Venu will focus on advancing Hitachi’s presence in India, aligning with the company’s broader strategic vision outlined in the new management plan, Inspire 2027. His leadership will center on enhancing collaboration among Hitachi’s 28 group companies in India, aiming to create value for customers. As the company shifts toward a more digital-focused future, Venu will oversee the expansion of the Lumada business and foster synergies by integrating Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) across the organization.
Hitachi, headquartered in Japan, is expanding its operations across India, with a diverse portfolio spanning sectors such as rail, digital technologies, connected industries, energy, financial services, e-education, and healthcare. Bharat Kaushal, Executive Chairman of Hitachi India, emphasized that N Venu’s appointment will reinforce the company’s vision of positioning India as a key business hub within Hitachi’s global network.
With nearly 40 years of experience, N Venu has played a significant role in driving the growth of Hitachi Energy India since its inception in 2019. He also served as the Chairman of the Karnataka chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) during 2024-25.

Since then, Hitachi has steadily expanded its presence, embedding itself into India’s growth story. As of March 2023, Hitachi has established around 28 group companies across the country and, by the end of Q1 FY2024, employed a workforce of 39,322 people in India, playing a key role in driving the nation’s transformation.
