Hitachi High-Tech Corporation has established the Advanced-Technology Innovation Center Mumbai, a demonstration laboratory for analytical systems, to support research and quality control requirements in India’s biopharmaceutical, environmental, materials, chemical and industrial sectors.

The Mumbai Lab, established on October 1, is operated by Hitachi High-Tech India Private Limited. The facility will support customers through demonstrations of analytical systems, evaluation of customer samples, application proposals and technical consultations. It is designed to help customers assess analytical solutions and address specific requirements before deploying equipment.

The laboratory houses analytical systems including spectrophotometers, liquid chromatographs, thermal analyzers, amino acid analyzers and potentiometric titrators. Customers can evaluate actual equipment using their own samples and work with Hitachi High-Tech specialists on proof-of-concept projects and application development.

The facility is located in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area of Thane, around a 60-minute drive from Mumbai Airport. It has been established to meet the safety and environmental standards required in India for analytical evaluation of chemical substances, allowing customers to conduct sample testing and verification at the site.

The Mumbai Lab complements Hitachi High-Tech’s Advanced-Technology Innovation Center India in Bengaluru, which was established in 2025 as a demonstration laboratory focused on the semiconductor sector. The Bengaluru site uses electron microscopes, including the Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope SU8600, along with other equipment and digital technologies for sample evaluation, failure analysis and process verification.

Together, the Bengaluru and Mumbai facilities provide Hitachi High-Tech with a two-site laboratory network in India. The Bengaluru facility focuses on semiconductor applications, while the Mumbai Lab serves the chemicals and industrial sectors. The company expects the network to increase customer access to analytical and evaluation capabilities as demand grows across semiconductors, electronics, chemicals and other industries.

The two facilities will also collaborate on solution development and customer support. Hitachi High-Tech plans to conduct hands-on workshops, work with academic institutions and offer student internships as part of efforts to support science and technology development and build technical skills in India.

The company also plans to strengthen its digital assets and analytical capabilities in support of HMAX Industry, Hitachi Group’s next-generation solutions initiative. The approach combines domain expertise, artificial intelligence and data from installed equipment to address industrial applications.

Hitachi High-Tech provides products and services across healthcare, semiconductors, environmental analysis, materials research, batteries, communications infrastructure, railway inspection and other industrial applications. The company reported consolidated global revenue of approximately JPY 821.7 billion for FY2025. The Mumbai Lab forms part of Hitachi High-Tech’s plans to expand customer support and analytical solution development in India, with a focus on research, quality control and industrial applications.
