Hitachi Vitality India Ltd has inaugurated its transformer part manufacturing unit in Vadodra, Gujarat which has been opened on the company’s largest plant in the nation. As stated by officials, the new manufacturing facility will produce dry brushing by utilizing resin-impregnated paper. "We are the first to Make In India the 400kV Dry Bushing," stated the company via Twitter.

Strengthening India’s energy grid, the unit will produce the brushing for the 400kV voltage stage, which is vital for the transformers deployed with the energy grid. Its transformer bushing is based on the Dry Know-how, which improves the thermal, electrical, and mechanical efficiency of the transformer bushings and makes them resilient and reliable.

Speaking on the company’s mission, Venu Nuguri, Managing Director and CEO, Hitachi Energy India Ltd stated, “Over 80 percent of our portfolio is manufactured locally, and we are continuously evaluating how best to add capabilities for new technologies.” He also said, “By localizing such manufacturing capabilities, we are opening up new avenues and creating even more customer value, all while advancing the energy system to be more sustainable, flexible and secure,” he added.

The facility is said to have the capacity to fabricate around 1000 resin-impregnated bushings per year, ranging from 72.5 kV to 400kV. As per the announcement, the manufacturing unit will produce AirRIP® flex Bushings, which are based on the modular and versatile design made with the company’s pioneering bushing Technology.

The company’s focus on the resin impregnated paper bushings has been lined up with its advantage over the conventional Oil-based solutions by stopping the moisture ingress, and oil leakage and cutting down the dangers of fireside in case of failure.

“This future-ready manufacturing facility is designed to minimize environmental impact and conserve natural resources. Our goal is to ensure that production operations in India aspire to the highest standards of sustainability, in line with our own carbon-neutrality goals,” said Bruno Melles, Managing Director of Hitachi Energy’s Transformers business. Notably, the company has achieved 100% fossil-free electricity, which is its first-step set out in its Sustainability 2030 plan.
