Hitachi Payment Services, a leading provider of innovative payments and commerce solutions, has teamed up with AbhiBus, a well-known bus booking platform, to roll out an Integrated Ticketing Management System (IMTS) along with cashless ticketing solutions specifically designed for the state-run bus services in Himachal Pradesh. This collaborative initiative is aimed at significantly enhancing the travel experience for passengers while promoting a cashless economy across over 3,100 buses operating in the region.
The newly implemented digital transit solution will empower passengers by enabling them to check real-time availability of seats, make advance reservations through the HRTC mobile application or website, and purchase tickets at bus terminals or even during their journey via GPRS-enabled Electronic Bus Ticketing Machines (EBTM). This comprehensive system is designed to streamline the ticketing process, ensuring convenience and efficiency for all users.
To facilitate a seamless travel experience, passengers will have access to a variety of digital payment methods. These will include options such as debit and credit cards, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), QR codes, prepaid wallets, and the NCMC. Additionally, those who qualify for free or discounted fares will be able to utilize their smart card passes to obtain the appropriate ticket through the EBTM, which is capable of recording both standard and concession fares effectively.
Anuj Khosla, the Chief Executive Officer of Digital Business at Hitachi Payment Services, expressed his enthusiasm over securing the HRTC project, emphasizing that this initiative will not only offer increased convenience for passengers but also enhance operational efficiency for transport operators. Rohit Sharma, the Chief Operating Officer at AbhiBus, highlighted the project’s significance in enriching the overall ticketing and travel experience for the extensive network of over 3,100 buses.
Rohan Chand Thakur, IAS, the Managing Director of HRTC, underscored the numerous advantages of the Integrated Ticketing Management System. He pointed out that it will provide real-time access to bus schedules and introduce digital payment options, both of which are crucial for improving passenger convenience and operational efficiency for bus conductors. This forward-thinking initiative represents a significant step toward modernizing public transportation in Himachal Pradesh, ultimately leading to a more user-friendly and efficient travel experience for everyone involved.
