Hindustan Zinc Limited, India’s leading zinc producer, recently concluded SakhiUtsav 2025 with large-scale events held across Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. The program is part of the company’s flagship initiative, Sakhi, which works to strengthen women’s roles in rural communities through skill-building, credit access, and income opportunities.

This year’s celebrations spanned five districts—Udaipur, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, and Rudrapur—and brought together more than 7,000 participants, including women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), local leaders, and students. Exhibitions, awareness activities, and cultural programs marked the occasion, underlining the impact and growth of women-led SHGs in the region.

The highlight of the celebrations was Sakhi Fest 2025, held at Zinc City in Udaipur. This public event featured live demonstrations of artisan skills, financial education workshops, storytelling zones, and youth-led campaigns focused on social awareness. With participation from both rural and urban communities, the festival showcased traditional crafts, local food products, and cultural performances—reflecting the leadership and creativity of women driving change at the village level.

Company CEO Arun Misra emphasized the importance of SakhiUtsav as more than just a celebration. “Sakhi women are reshaping the future of their communities,” he said. “Their work represents inclusive growth and long-term development. Supporting them is essential to building self-reliant and resilient communities.”

Activities across all event locations included sports events, cultural performances, and plays on gender and social issues. SHG members also took part in exhibitions of handmade goods like textiles, pickles, and spices—demonstrating their entrepreneurial progress. Quizzes on government schemes and SHG knowledge encouraged learning and confidence among participants.

Through a network of over 2,000 SHGs, the Sakhi program has directly impacted more than 25,000 women, helping them build sustainable livelihoods and drive social progress. Hindustan Zinc’s broader community efforts also extend to education, healthcare, water conservation, sanitation, arts, and sports—touching nearly 4,000 villages and benefiting over 2 million people. Recognized as one of the top CSR-performing companies in India, Hindustan Zinc is also known for its leadership in sustainability, with the EcoZen brand of low-carbon zinc, global ESG recognition, and a strong commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
