Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and among the top five global silver producers, has announced the second edition of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon, scheduled for September 21, 2025, starting from Field Club, Udaipur. To mark the launch, the official marathon poster – showcasing Udaipur’s serene beauty – was unveiled, along with the race-day jersey, designed in vibrant blue, orange, and pink. The colors symbolize inclusivity, energy, and unity, reflecting the marathon’s spirit of participation for all under the banner of #RunForZeroHunger, an initiative by Nand Ghar, Anil Agarwal Foundation, focused on eradicating malnutrition in India.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Sunil Chedri, Chief Conservator of Forest Department, Arun Misra, CEO & Whole-time Director, Hindustan Zinc, and Dr Manoj Soni from ABCR (Anybody Can Run). Building on the over 5,000 participants from the inaugural 2024 edition, this year’s marathon aims to be even bigger. Runners will traverse scenic routes, including Fateh Sagar Lake and the Aravalli Hills, across categories such as the Half Marathon (21 km), Cool Run (10 km), Dream Run (5 km), and the “Race with Champions” for specially-abled athletes. The event holds official certification from the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
Shri Chedri said, “The Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon is not just a sporting event but a year-long effort that promotes health, community, and the noble cause of fighting malnutrition. It places Udaipur on the global map as both a cultural and sporting hub.”
Mr Misra added, “This marathon is more than a race—it is a movement celebrating endurance, inclusivity, and the spirit of Udaipur. Through #RunForZeroHunger, we are proud to align fitness with social impact, empowering communities for a healthier tomorrow.”
This year’s launch also featured a digital-first poster and jersey reveal, coupled with an engaging performance by mentalist Sapan Joshi, blending Udaipur’s heritage with the marathon’s mission. Fondly known as India’s most scenic marathon, the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon blends fitness with tradition, showcasing Udaipur’s cultural and natural heritage—from tranquil lakes and majestic palaces to the panoramic Aravallis.
With runners from 27 Indian states and international participants, the event is set to boost tourism and local business, benefitting hotels, restaurants, artisans, and the wider community. Udaipur, with its 3,000-year zinc mining legacy, rightfully known as Zinc City, now also cements its place as a sporting destination.
As part of its broader sports-led community initiatives, Hindustan Zinc supports the Zinc Football Academy (India’s first residential academy for girls), along with grassroots cricket, kabaddi, handball, and volleyball programs. Flagship community projects like Zinc Football Nand Ghar further strengthen its vision of talent development, inclusivity, and social progress. The marathon stands as another testament to Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to fitness, empowerment, and community well-being.
