The partnership aims to promote an active lifestyle and aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting grassroots sports and local talent in Rajasthan.
Sufiya Sufi, a record-breaking athlete from Ajmer, Rajasthan, has achieved global recognition for her ultra-running feats, including being the fastest woman to run from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Her inspiring journey from working as a baggage handler at Delhi Airport to becoming a world-class athlete mirrors Hindustan Zinc’s vision of empowering emerging athletes to pursue successful sports careers.
Sufiya will engage in various campaigns and events, promoting fitness and healthy living, such as her recent participation in the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon, which supports rural health and fitness initiatives.
This collaboration strengthens Hindustan Zinc’s focus on nurturing sporting talent, having already established initiatives like the Zinc Football Academy, where young athletes like Sahil Poonia and Mohammed Kaif have represented India on global stages.
The company’s support for cluster-based sports at local, district, and state levels aims to encourage young athletes to follow their passion for sports. In 2025, Sufiya will represent India at the prestigious World 24-Hour Running Championship and aims to compete in other major events, including the Mt. Fuji Ultra-Trail and the Comrades Ultra Marathon. She also has the ambitious goal of running across the globe, covering over 40,000 kilometres in 740 days, serving as an inspiration for aspiring athletes across the nation.
