Hindustan Zinc Celebrates Rajasthan’s Culture and Women’s Empowerment with Sakhi Fest

Ahead of Rajasthan’s 76th Foundation Day, Hindustan Zinc Limited (NSE: HINDZINC), the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer, hosted the inaugural Sakhi Fest in celebration of Rajasthan’s rich culture and the strength of its rural women. This initiative, part of the company’s Sakhi program, aims to empower women in rural Rajasthan, providing them with employment and credit-linked opportunities. The festival featured a vibrant showcase of art, culture, and the spirit of Rajasthan’s womanhood.

Held in Zinc City, Udaipur, the event offered an engaging experience for all ages, with over 30 interactive stalls, entertainment zones, and live performances. Visitors enjoyed demonstrations of traditional crafts, including block printing, pottery, weaving, puppetry, and clay sculpture, highlighting Rajasthan’s rich artisanal heritage.

The festival also included a food corner offering regional delicacies from across India. A highlight of the event was a Grand Qawwali Night by the Nizami Brothers, along with other performances, including Sufi melodies by Honey Sharma, folk music by Shubhra Pareek, and a lively Khartal & Tabla Jugalbandi by Firoz Khan & Muzaffar Rehman.

Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, emphasized Rajasthan’s special place in the company’s development. He reaffirmed Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to advancing the state’s growth through initiatives that create jobs, foster local development, and establish Rajasthan as a global zinc and silver hub.

Hindustan Zinc has contributed over INR 40,000 crores to the state’s economy and invested INR 1,500 crores in social initiatives, focusing on education, women’s empowerment, healthcare, and more. The company also announced plans to establish the world’s first Zinc Park, a sustainable industrial ecosystem, during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit.

Through the Sakhi initiative, Hindustan Zinc is empowering women in over 2,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs), helping them break stereotypes and drive economic and social progress. This initiative, alongside other company efforts in education, healthcare, and the arts, touches the lives of over 20 lakh people across nearly 4,000 villages.
