Hindustan Power has officially kicked off development on a 435 megawatt peak (MWp) solar energy project in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, following the inauguration of its local project office. The company secured the project through a tariff-based bidding process as part of the 2,000 MW AC solar auction led by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL).
Under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), UPPCL will buy electricity generated by the plant at a fixed rate for 25 years. The project is slated for completion within 24 months from the PPA signing date. This large-scale solar installation marks a significant advancement in Uttar Pradesh’s push to achieve 22 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2026–27. In addition to delivering clean electricity, the project is expected to generate employment and stimulate economic activity in the region.
“We’re excited to begin work on the Lalitpur site. With the project office now functional, we’re committed to collaborating closely with the community as we move forward,” said Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power.
With initial operations now underway, the company will begin site preparation, engage local labor, and coordinate with stakeholders as construction progresses. Hindustan Power, known for its focus on clean and transitional energy, is working towards building a renewable energy capacity of 5 GW by 2028.
