Hindustan Power, a prominent player in India’s integrated power generation sector, has secured a Letter of Award (LoA) for a major 100 MW solar power project connected to the inter-state transmission system (ISTS), along with a 200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), from SJVN Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise. The actual installed capacity of the solar project is expected to be significantly higher than 100 MW, ensuring round-the-clock power supply while also charging the BESS for continuous peak-hour delivery.

The project was won through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, followed by a successful e-Reverse Auction (e-RA) on the ETS portal. It forms part of a broader initiative involving the development of 1,200 MW ISTS-connected solar PV projects, paired with 600 MW/2,400 MWh Energy Storage Systems (ESS), to be established across India. This strategic project will enhance grid stability and operational flexibility by balancing the variable nature of solar power generation with real-time energy demand, ensuring a reliable and steady supply of clean energy, including four hours of delivery during peak demand periods.

The integration of the BESS will facilitate energy shifting and peak load management, significantly improving grid efficiency and reliability. Designed to provide firm, dispatchable power throughout the 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), this project positions Hindustan Power as a key player in India’s transition to renewable energy. By integrating solar power with cutting-edge storage solutions, Hindustan Power continues to support India’s national objectives of sustainability, energy security, and the delivery of 24/7 clean power.

Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, expressed his excitement about the project: “Winning this project is a significant milestone in our commitment to providing cleaner, more reliable energy to the country. By combining solar power with energy storage, we can effectively manage peak demand and ensure continuous power supply, even when the sun isn’t shining. This project will help strengthen India’s energy infrastructure and contribute to a more sustainable and dependable energy future.”

Hindustan Power is a leading integrated power generation company focused on renewable and transitional energy sources. With a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation, Hindustan Power has played a pivotal role in advancing India’s energy transition and is dedicated to driving the country’s renewable energy growth.
