Coca-Cola India has launched a new 250ml bottle made from 100% recycled PET (rPET) in Orissa. This initiative, part of the Affordable Small Sparkling Package (ASSP), aims to promote sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint.

Manufactured by Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. (HCCBPL), these rPET bottles lower emissions by 36% compared to traditional PET bottles. Overall, using rPET in ASSP packaging reduces the carbon footprint by 66%.

Alok Sharma, Executive Director at HCCB, said, “Using recycled PET in ASSP is a key step towards reducing plastic waste and our carbon footprint.” Enrique Ackermann, Vice President at Coca-Cola India, added, “Expanding rPET in India shows our commitment to sustainability and reducing waste.”

Coca-Cola’s goal is to make all its packaging recyclable by 2025 and use 50% recycled materials by 2030. This launch is part of their global initiative to create a circular economy for packaging.
