Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd Invests $4.43 Million in International Battery Company

Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd (HSCL) has finalized its $4.43 million investment in the US-based International Battery Company, Inc (IBC), acquiring a 16.24% ownership stake. This follows the board’s approval in May 2025, as disclosed earlier.

HSCL has completed the payment for its investment in International Battery Company (IBC), fully adhering to SEBI’s regulatory guidelines. The total investment will be allocated across multiple areas to support IBC’s growth and expansion plans.

Specifically, the funds will be used to acquire 600,000 common shares from an existing shareholder, subscribe to 2.1 million new common shares, and purchase 379,175 Series A Preferred Shares of IBC. This strategic investment is part of HSCL’s efforts to strengthen its position in the battery and energy storage sectors. This update marks the completion of HSCL’s transaction, strengthening its growing portfolio in the energy storage and battery sectors.

Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Kolkata, Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd specializes in the production of specialty chemicals. It operates in two major sectors: Carbon Materials & Chemicals and Power, with manufacturing plants in both India and China. The company focuses on sustainability, employing zero-liquid-discharge systems and using clean, renewable energy sources.

HSCL’s product range includes carbon black, coal tar pitch, refined naphthalene, specialty oils, sulphonated naphthalene formaldehyde (SNF), and components for lithium-ion batteries. They also produce advanced materials such as graphene, silicon-based anode materials, hybrid polycarboxylate ether, and colour pigments under the brand COLORX. These products serve industries such as batteries, paints, plastics, tyres, aluminium, construction, and defence.

The company’s global reach spans over 50 countries, supported by research and development centres recognized by the Government of India. These facilities focus on innovation and improving manufacturing processes across various industries.
