Hilti Manufacturing India has achieved a significant milestone with its Vadodara plant being awarded the prestigious DGNB Gold Certification by the German Sustainable Building Council—marking the first time an industrial facility in India has earned this recognition. This achievement reflects Hilti’s long-standing commitment to sustainable development and its efforts to lead the way in environmentally responsible industrial construction. It also supports the company’s broader mission to enhance productivity, safety, and environmental responsibility across its global operations, while actively working toward its net-zero goals for 2050.

The DGNB certification is one of the most comprehensive global standards for sustainable construction, assessing buildings throughout their full lifecycle—from planning and construction to daily operations and eventual decommissioning. The Vadodara plant was designed with DGNB’s core principles in mind: economic efficiency, ecological responsibility, and social impact. The facility features a flexible layout for future adaptability, advanced energy-efficient systems, and a fully integrated building management platform for continuous monitoring and optimisation.

To promote environmental efficiency, the plant is equipped with an innovative HVAC system that uses chilled water for radiant cooling—delivering comfort with energy use that is nearly five times more efficient than conventional systems. Passive design features such as solar-protective façade elements, overdeck insulation, and shading devices further reduce energy consumption. A rooftop solar installation produces 1,500 MWh of renewable energy, while water conservation systems, including rainwater harvesting and wastewater recycling, make the campus a zero-discharge site. A Miyawaki forest covers 25% of the campus, enhancing biodiversity and ecological resilience.

Aligned with international standards for human-centric design, the facility was developed under a “Design for All” approach. Accessibility features, gender-sensitive planning, and wellness-focused spaces—including childcare, fitness zones, and quiet areas—reflect Hilti’s inclusive culture. Over 170 indoor air quality tests were conducted before occupancy, and acoustic comfort and low-emission materials were prioritized in all workspaces. The Vadodara plant now joins a select group of DGNB-certified Hilti facilities worldwide, reinforcing the company’s dedication to sustainable construction practices across all its operations.

Hilti is a global leader in specialized tools, fastening systems, and software-driven solutions for professional construction users. With a workforce of approximately 33,000 people in more than 120 countries, the company emphasizes innovation, quality, and strong customer engagement. In 2024, Hilti reported global revenues exceeding CHF 6.4 billion. Headquartered in Schaan, Liechtenstein, since its founding in 1941, the company is privately held by the Martin Hilti Family Trust, which ensures long-term continuity and values-driven leadership.
