Hilti India, a leading provider of cutting-edge tools, technology, and services for the construction industry, hosted a digital event titled “Indian Standard for Safer Connections: Post-Installed Anchorage to Concrete,” focused on the launch of a new design standard by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The event showcased Hilti India’s leadership in advancing the construction landscape with a new, comprehensive framework for designing post-installed anchors in concrete structures.
The newly introduced Indian Standard addresses critical gaps in the country’s construction sector by providing detailed guidelines for anchor design that ensure regulatory compliance and structural reliability. As India experiences rapid urban growth through projects like high-speed rail, metro systems, and industrial expansions, the demand for robust and reliable anchorage solutions has risen. The new standard incorporates rigorous testing protocols and aligns with seismic safety norms, an essential factor given that a significant portion of India’s landmass is prone to earthquakes, with a large population residing in seismic zones.
During the event, Hilti India emphasized how the standard will address past inconsistencies in anchor design, which sometimes led to failures. The new regulations ensure that anchors will perform reliably under challenging conditions, including seismic events and cracked concrete, thus securing both structural and non-structural elements such as ceilings, utility fixtures, and building facades.
Hilti India’s leadership outlined the company’s commitment to driving this change, highlighting its range of high-quality, pre-qualified anchors that meet the new standard’s requirements. The company also unveiled its updated cloud-based anchor design software, PROFIS Engineering, which now integrates the latest design methodology, allowing construction professionals to design compliant and efficient anchoring solutions.
To support industry adoption, Hilti India will launch a series of webinars and workshops aimed at providing professionals with in-depth knowledge of the standard, from design through to execution on-site.
Jayant Kumar, General Manager and Managing Director of Hilti India, commented, “The publication of the Indian Standard marks a transformative step for the Indian construction industry, raising the bar for safety and dependability. At Hilti India, we’re proud to lead this change with our pre-qualified anchors and advanced PROFIS Engineering software, ensuring that construction professionals can implement optimized, compliant anchoring solutions. We are committed to working with the industry to create a safer, more resilient infrastructure for India’s future.”
The event concluded with a comprehensive walkthrough of the new standard, led by Hilti India’s technical experts, who reaffirmed the company’s support for stakeholders throughout the adoption process. This initiative strengthens Hilti India’s position as a key partner for productivity, safety, and sustainability, contributing to the growth of resilient infrastructure in the country.
