Highness Microelectronics Ltd has entered into a technology transfer agreement with a leading display glass manufacturer based in China, marking a significant step toward strengthening domestic capabilities in display manufacturing. The agreement was formally signed on April 13, 2026, in Suzhou, China.

The collaboration focuses on transferring advanced technology for glass cutting and resizing of TFT-LCD modules, enabling Highness Microelectronics to develop customised display solutions tailored for the transportation sector. These applications include railways, metro systems, subways, and other urban mobility platforms.

Under the agreement, Highness Microelectronics will gain access to proprietary processes, technical specifications, engineering designs, operating procedures, and quality control systems related to TFT-LCD glass processing. The initiative is expected to support localisation efforts and reduce dependence on imports for specialised display components.

The licensed territory under the agreement primarily includes India, with provisions for expansion into Australia and New Zealand, subject to mutual understanding between both parties. The company will manufacture and integrate TFT display modules across a range of sizes and brightness levels, catering to diverse operational requirements in transportation systems.

The agreement also allows Highness Microelectronics to market, sell, and distribute these products within the licensed regions without restrictions. Export to other markets will be permitted based on prior approval from the original equipment manufacturer, ensuring alignment with broader commercial interests.

The partnership is structured to ensure the protection of confidential information, covering technical, commercial, and business data exchanged during the course of the project. The technology transfer programme will serve as the foundation for long-term collaboration between the two organisations.

Gaurav Manjul Kejriwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, stated that the agreement represents a major milestone for the company. He noted that the development positions Highness Microelectronics as a pioneer in India with access to specialised TFT-LCD glass resizing technology. He added that the initiative opens up new opportunities to deliver advanced, locally manufactured digital imaging solutions for the country’s transportation infrastructure.

The company aims to leverage this capability to support the growing demand for high-performance display systems in public transport networks. By combining global technology expertise with domestic manufacturing, Highness Microelectronics is working towards building a strong foundation for innovation-driven growth in the display solutions segment. This development reflects increasing international collaboration in India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem, aligned with the broader objective of enhancing self-reliance in advanced technologies.
