Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has awarded contracts for 1 GWh of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) under its Phase VI procurement round. The allocations were made at an average tariff of $3,321.20 per megawatt of nominal project capacity per month.

The successful bidders in this round are Solarworld Energy Solutions and HG Infra Engineering, who will design, install, and operate large-scale BESS facilities across the state. Solarworld Energy Solutions secured a 200 MW/400 MWh project at the lowest tariff of $3,288.31 per MW per month. HG Infra Engineering will develop the remaining 300 MW/600 MWh at a rate of $3,354 per MW per month.

Both projects will be executed under a build-own-operate (BOO) model. The energy storage systems will be made available to GUVNL for flexible usage, allowing charging and discharging based on demand requirements. This initiative supports Gujarat’s ongoing efforts to strengthen grid reliability and integrate renewable energy into its power supply.
