HG Infra Engineering Ltd has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) for the development of a 300 MW/600 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Gujarat. This project was granted through GUVNL’s Phase VI auction, which called for 500 MW/1,000 MWh of BESS capacity under a tariff-based competitive bidding process.
The project is scheduled for completion within 24 months. The tariff has been fixed at INR 2,85,600 per megawatt, with a contract period of 12 years. The estimated total cost of the project is approximately INR 670 crore, excluding taxes. Commissioning is targeted for October 27. This award follows HG Infra Engineering’s previous success in securing a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with GUVNL for a 250 MW/500 MWh BESS project, which was won under GUVNL’s Phase IV tender and benefits from the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme.
