Indian telecom equipment maker HFCL anticipates a 25-30 percent increase in revenue during the current fiscal year, driven by a larger order book and stronger demand, according to a senior company executive. During the earnings call, HFCL’s Managing Director Mahendra Nahata stated that the company’s order book grew to Rs 9,967 crore as of March 31, 2025, up from Rs 7,685 crore a year earlier.
“With a solid order pipeline, rising demand, and full capacity utilization, we expect revenue growth of 25-30 percent for the year, with the main increase beginning in the second quarter,” Mr Nahata said. He also highlighted that HFCL became the first Indian firm to develop and launch commercially the 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) device — a modem enabling wireless 5G broadband at homes. “In its debut year, we have shipped over 400,000 units, showing strong acceptance in the market. With telecom operators and ISPs increasing demand, we foresee ongoing orders. Just last week, we secured another Rs 174 crore order for this product,” Mr Nahata added.
In the quarter ending March 31, 2025, HFCL’s revenue declined by approximately 39 percent to Rs 800.72 crore, primarily due to weak demand for optical fibre. Mr Nahata explained that subdued demand for optical fibre cables over the past 6-7 quarters led to lower capacity use, but the company’s optical fibre production will reach full capacity starting June 2026, compared to only 45 percent utilization during FY25.
“Our optical fibre cable capacity utilization was around 40 percent last year. This will ramp up to full utilization by July 2025. With clear signs of market recovery and growth drivers such as 5G rollouts, data centre expansion, BharatNet Phase III, and increasing export orders, we expect significant revenue improvement from optical fibre cables in FY26,” he said.
