HFCL, a leading Indian telecom equipment manufacturer, is targeting a revenue milestone of ₹10,000 crore, driven by international expansion and increasing defence supplies, according to Managing Director Mahendra Nahata. During the company’s recent investor call, Nahata revealed that HFCL’s order book stood at ₹10,000 crore as of December 31, 2024. The company is actively strengthening its global footprint by deploying employees, distributors, and dealers in key international markets. A significant portion of its future revenue is expected to come from exports, particularly from its optical fibre segment and telecom solutions.

To solidify its presence in Europe, HFCL’s board has approved the establishment of an optical fibre cable manufacturing facility in Poland. Nahata highlighted that HFCL remains exempt from the anti-dumping duties imposed by the European Commission on December 16, 2024, which affects other Indian optical fibre cable manufacturers. In the December 2024 quarter, HFCL recorded a revenue of ₹1,012 crore and anticipates adding another ₹350-400 crore in the current quarter. However, the company may fall short of its ₹2,000 crore annual target due to delays in equipment supply and customer readiness.

During the same quarter, HFCL secured a ₹2,501.30 crore advance work order for BharatNet Phase III in Punjab, alongside ₹2,167.65 crore worth of orders from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. for optical fibre cables and telecom equipment in Uttar Pradesh (East and West) Telecom Circles. Additionally, the company inaugurated a defence manufacturing unit in Hosur, marking a significant step in its defence sector expansion.

Nahata expressed optimism about securing substantial orders in the defence segment, with revenue contributions expected from the next financial year. However, he noted that defence approvals take time, impacting order execution. The company has already received a letter of intent for ₹800 crore worth of defence orders, which has been delayed due to the approval process. HFCL is working towards finalizing these orders by April or May 2025, further strengthening its foothold in the defence manufacturing sector.
