Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced plans to begin operations in the United Kingdom and Europe in the second half of 2025 under its electric brand, Vida. This expansion highlights Hero’s commitment to global growth and electric mobility.
“We are gearing up to launch in the UK and across Europe, driven by our electric vehicle brand Vida,” said Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, during the unveiling of the new Vida Z. “Our European lineup will also feature motorcycles tailored specifically for riders in this region.”
The Vida Z will be the first model available in the UK and Europe, followed by high-capacity premium motorcycles with internal combustion engines. “Vida Z is designed with global appeal, from Barcelona to Bogota, offering premium features and styling,” added Swadesh Srivastava, Hero’s Chief Business Officer for Emerging Mobility.
Hero MotoCorp has established a technology center in Germany and has appointed distributors in Italy, Spain, France, and the UK. Currently, Hero offers the Vida V1 electric scooter in India, with plans to expand its electric lineup to four models by the end of the financial year to capture a larger share of the EV market.
In addition to Vida, Hero is developing a portfolio of electric motorcycles with six Vida models and four more through its alliance with Zero Motorcycles, expected to debut in 2025-26.
While Hero MotoCorp’s export share remains low, the company sees strong growth potential in international markets, aiming to make exports a significant revenue stream. Currently operating in 48 countries, exports accounted for 3.9% of Hero’s revenue in FY 2024. In 2023-24, the company increased its market share in Indian exports to 5.8% and exported 200,000 units, up from 170,000 units the previous year.
Hero has also been expanding in Southeast Asia, with recent market entries in the Philippines, and plans to build its presence in key ASEAN markets. A new assembly plant opened in Nepal, while in Bangladesh, Hero aims to strengthen its position in the premium and core segments. Hero MotoCorp continues to explore new global opportunities, signaling its focus on international expansion and electric mobility as key growth drivers.
