A convocation ceremony in Hajipur, Vaishali district, Bihar marked a significant milestone as women trainees completed their automotive training under the Saksham Project—a joint effort supported by Hero MotoCorp and implemented by the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC). The event was attended by Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, who praised the initiative for enabling women to enter traditionally male-dominated sectors.
The program trained participants in roles such as automotive telecalling, electric vehicle servicing, and sales executive positions. Alongside the graduation, a new batch of women trainees was inaugurated, continuing the momentum in building local talent for the growing automotive sector.
Chirag Paswan commended the Government of India’s focus on skill development, highlighting how such programs are empowering women in rural areas. He pointed out that with increasing opportunities in the automotive industry, especially at the grassroots level, there is a strong case for setting up a Center of Excellence to support advanced training initiatives.
ASDC Vice President Vinkesh Gulati emphasized that the program is a step towards reducing gender imbalance in the auto workforce. The training curriculum spans both traditional and electric vehicle segments, equipping women with the technical knowledge and soft skills needed for success in the evolving mobility landscape.
Since its launch, the Saksham Project has trained over 4,000 women. The second phase of the initiative is set to upskill 20,000 women across eight automotive job categories. As of March, 2,299 candidates had been enrolled, with 1,890 actively participating in ongoing sessions. The ceremony also saw attendance from local MLAs, senior officials, and executives from Hero MotoCorp, ASDC, and Vision India Services, all of whom reaffirmed their support for inclusive workforce development in India’s auto sector.
