Hero Future Energies (HFE), part of the Hero Group, has been shortlisted for the Bhubaneswar Hydrogen Valley Innovation Cluster (HVIC) as a consortia partner. HFE will work with IIT-Bhubaneswar as the industry partner.
HFE will provide solutions for producing renewable energy and green hydrogen, focusing on direct reduction of iron and heavy-duty mobility. The Bhubaneswar-HVIC will produce hydrogen through electrolysis, targeting the steel and mobility sectors.
The government invited bids to form 15 hydrogen valley innovation clusters, with support from the Department of Science and Technology for green hydrogen valleys in Kerala, Pune, Bhubaneswar, and Jodhpur this year. These projects will be upgraded to commercial scale and managed by a new company for sustainable operation beyond five years.
A hydrogen valley is an area where hydrogen serves multiple sectors, covering production, storage, transport, and distribution. The goal is to boost research, innovation, and capacity, demonstrating clean hydrogen solutions for local and national deployment
The purpose of creating these hydrogen valleys is to enhance research, innovation, and the abilities of scientists and industry professionals in the region, and to showcase clean hydrogen solutions for use locally, regionally, and across the country.
