On June 5, 2025, Henkel India joined hands with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) to organize a large-scale cleanup drive along the mangrove stretch near TS Chanakya in Navi Mumbai. This initiative, organized in observance of World Environment Day, focused on removing plastic waste and raising awareness about the importance of preserving coastal ecosystems.

In line with the global theme, “Our Land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration,” the event brought together close to 100 participants—including Henkel employees, NMMC staff, and college students—who contributed to the removal of approximately 5,000 kilograms of waste from the area. The mangrove belt, which serves as a natural defense against coastal erosion and flooding, also plays a vital role in carbon absorption and supports a variety of migratory bird species.

S Sunil Kumar, Country President of Henkel India, expressed appreciation for the collective efforts: “This initiative is part of our broader commitment to environmental responsibility. We value the active support from NMMC and the dedicated involvement of all volunteers. Such efforts are key to safeguarding ecosystems and encouraging sustainable practices within communities.”

The event concluded with an interactive reflection session, where many participants pledged to support ongoing conservation efforts. Building on this momentum, Henkel and NMMC plan to hold quarterly cleanups, conduct educational workshops, and organize nature walks to encourage long-term engagement with local ecosystems. This effort is one of several projects spearheaded by Henkel in the Navi Mumbai region, aimed at protecting and revitalizing vital green and blue spaces through collaborative action.
