Henkel India has finished Phase III of its manufacturing plant in Kurkumbh, near Pune, Maharashtra. This plant, started in 2020, helps meet the growing demand for adhesives, sealants, and surface treatments in India.
The Kurkumbh site will support Indian businesses, reduce the need for imports, and close the gap in supply for high-performance adhesive solutions. These solutions are important for manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and automotive components.
Mark Dorn, Executive Vice President at Henkel Adhesive Technologies, said, “India is a key market for Henkel. The new Loctite plant shows our commitment to becoming a strong local player. With ongoing investments and efficient supply chains, Henkel is dedicated to growing in India and offering innovative solutions.”
The Kurkumbh site also highlights Henkel’s commitment to sustainability. It is LEED Gold certified and aims to be carbon-neutral for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. To achieve this, the site uses green energy and solar panels.
S. Sunil Kumar, Country President of Henkel India, said, “Expanding our manufacturing shows Henkel’s commitment to making India a hub for advanced adhesive solutions. The new plant includes an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) for fast material handling. This plant uses Industry 4.0 to boost efficiency and support the ‘Make in India’ initiative.”
Henkel Adhesive Technologies has been in India since 1996 and is a major growth driver for the company. Henkel continues to invest in India, with five manufacturing sites, two innovation centers, a customer experience center, a packaging academy, and a footwear application center.
