Healthium Medtech, in partnership with the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), has officially launched the first group of participants in its new initiative focused on surgical interventions and medical technologies. The program was introduced in Bengaluru and is part of Healthium Medtech’s corporate social responsibility efforts.

The initiative is designed to support the development of affordable and scalable medical innovations, particularly in the field of surgery. It targets solutions that are locally relevant and clinically effective, with a focus on bridging gaps in healthcare access, especially in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities across India.

While advanced surgical tools are increasingly used in larger urban hospitals, many smaller and rural healthcare providers continue to face challenges related to cost, infrastructure, and training. This program aims to encourage Indian-led innovation to address those challenges, promoting practical and accessible technologies suited to local conditions.

Healthium Medtech contributes to the collaboration with experience in surgical and post-surgical products, supported by six manufacturing sites and a portfolio of over 85 patents held across India, the United States, and Europe. C-CAMP, backed by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, has supported more than 550 start-ups and connected with over 3,000 ventures in the life sciences sector.

By combining clinical knowledge, technical support, and industry access, the program is intended to help early-stage companies move from concept to commercialisation. The launch event included remarks from leadership, a tour of the campus, and presentations by selected start-ups. The first cohort includes BrainSight AI, Nesa Medtech, Cartosense, Shira Medtech, Samaritan AI, Quixotix, Roots to Cusps, and Healyantra. These ventures are working in areas such as neurology, urology, surgical planning using artificial intelligence, and diagnostic imaging.

Anish Bafna, CEO and Managing Director of Healthium Medtech, stated, “This collaboration is focused on supporting innovators who are addressing key surgical and healthcare challenges within India.” Dr Taslimarif Saiyed, CEO and Director of C-CAMP, added, “This program combines innovation with affordability and aims to provide start-ups with the tools and ecosystem needed to bring their technologies to scale.”

Over the next nine months, participating start-ups will receive mentorship, incubation support at C-CAMP, and access to clinical and industry networks to help prepare their technologies for wider adoption. The program launch comes as India’s medical technology sector continues to grow, driven by policy support, rising demand, and increased investor interest.
