Havells is set to expand its cables manufacturing at the Alwar plant, costing Rs. 375 crore, to be completed in phases by March 2026. The expansion will be financed through internal accruals. By March 2026, the Alwar plant’s capacity will increase to 41.20 lakh km of cables annually, up from the current 32.90 lakh km. This is a 25% increase to meet the growing demand for cables.
Havells did not specify which categories of cables will be included in this expansion. As of now, the Alwar plant operates at about 70% capacity. The Alwar facility is the largest single-location cable plant in India, and this expansion will strengthen Havells’ position in the cable manufacturing sector.
According to a report by RR Kabel, the Indian wires and cables industry is expected to grow at a 13% CAGR by FY-27, reaching Rs. 1,20,000 crore from Rs. 74,800 crore in FY-23. The market for communication cables is expected to grow at a 13.4% CAGR, while power cables are projected to grow at 12.5% CAGR. Flexible and specialty cables, as well as control and instrumentation cables, are expected to grow at 12.5% and 8.7% CAGR, respectively.
