The Indian government is moving forward with its plans to establish a new Electronics Manufacturing Centre (EMC) in Sector 10 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). As part of this initiative, Havells India, known for producing fans, coolers, lights, cables, and other electronic products, will receive a 50-acre plot within a 200-acre cluster. The company plans to invest approximately Rs 800 crore in building its manufacturing facility, which is expected to create at least 1,000 jobs.
The government has designated the Theda area for this electronic manufacturing cluster. Previously, a similar project in Theda saw 100 acres allocated to a mobile phone company, but the project was not completed, and the land was returned. Now, under the EMC 2.0 scheme, a 200-acre cluster is being developed in Sector 10, with Havells acting as the anchor unit.
Havells applied to establish its plant in the upcoming electronic manufacturing cluster, and this application has now been approved. The company will receive a 50-acre plot to build its facility, with the first phase expected to be operational by 2026. YEIDA officials anticipate approval from the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology within the next 15-20 days.
According to YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh, Havells will serve as the primary manufacturing unit and will collaborate with at least five other companies, which will be allocated the remaining 150 acres of land. Under the EMC 2.0 scheme, YEIDA will receive Rs 140 crore from the central government for infrastructure development and the creation of a Common Facility Centre (CFC) with research and testing labs.
