Hatebur, a Swiss technology leader in hot and cold forming, has introduced the Servo-Hydraulic Ejector Module (SAM) technology, offering enhanced productivity, cost savings, and energy efficiency for manufacturers in the roller bearing and automotive industries.
SAM technology utilizes servo-hydraulic drives to enable highly dynamic control over position, force, and speed via a user-friendly touchscreen interface. This innovation unlocks new processing possibilities and significantly reduces retooling times, leading to improved efficiency and versatility for users. By replacing traditional mechanical components with SAM modules, manual tasks become obsolete, streamlining the manufacturing process.
One function of the SAM module is its ability to combine descaling and in-die forming in a single operation. This two-in-one process removes scale from the die’s front during an upsetting process and then shapes the blank into the required form. This not only extends tool life but also allows for the production of more complex parts.
The SAM technology introduces the “Slim Slug” process, which minimizes the slug height of combination rings. By forming the slug thickness in an intermediate position between the ejector and the punch, the thickness can be reduced by up to half of the original. This reduction in raw material usage can lead to significant cost savings, with an example cited where 25 grams of raw material can be saved per combination ring 6008 blank, equivalent to 8% of the weight. This translates to a remarkable saving of 250 tons for an annual volume of 10 million parts. These material savings also contribute to reduced CO2 emissions and lower energy consumption.
SAM technology facilitates the piercing and separating of rings with greater control and increased process reliability. The integrated position measurement system enables precise piercing of parts, allowing for slow and gentle ejection of the inner ring, eliminating the empty stroke, and enabling separate discharge of both rings on two separate tracks.
SAM technology is initially available on the hot former HOTmatic HM35, with plans to integrate it into other machines in the future. Hatebur’s commitment to innovation in the manufacturing industry is evident through its SAM technology, which enhances productivity, reduces costs, and promotes sustainability.
This innovative technology aligns with Hatebur‘s mission to provide manufacturers with cutting-edge solutions that optimize production processes, reduce environmental impact, and contribute to a more efficient and sustainable future.
Hatebur’s SAM technology represents a significant advancement in hot and cold forming processes, offering manufacturers in the roller bearing and automotive industries increased productivity, cost savings, and environmental benefits through enhanced energy efficiency and reduced raw material consumption.
