Hartek Foundation Brings Light to Flood-Hit Villages in Punjab with 500 Solar Lamps

As devastating floods continue to sweep through parts of Punjab, leaving communities in Ajanala, Fazilka, and Ramdas without electricity or basic services, Hartek Foundation has stepped in to provide critical support. The Foundation, part of the Hartek Group’s social outreach efforts, has donated 500 solar-powered lamps to families in the most severely affected areas. The initiative is being carried out in collaboration with Global Sikhs, whose teams are working on the ground to coordinate relief efforts.

“In times like these, light offers more than just visibility—it brings safety, dignity, and comfort,” said Harkirat Kaur, CEO of Hartek Foundation. “Our aim is to restore a sense of normalcy, even amidst the ongoing uncertainty.”

For many recipients, these lamps are their only source of light since floodwaters knocked out power supplies. The solar lights are especially vital for women, children, and the elderly, who are more vulnerable after dark in disrupted environments.

This year’s monsoon season has brought some of the worst flooding Punjab has seen in recent memory—washing away homes, destroying crops, and forcing thousands to evacuate. Relief agencies and local authorities continue to provide food, water, medical support, and temporary shelter, but reliable lighting remains a significant unmet need.

By distributing solar lamps, Hartek Foundation is not only helping meet an urgent requirement but also highlighting the value of sustainable energy in emergency response. In these flood-ravaged areas, a single lamp can offer far more than light—it can offer hope.
