GRSE Signs Agreements in Sweden and Denmark to Expand Marine Systems and Cruise Vessel Capabilities

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE), a government-owned shipbuilding company, announced on Saturday, June 7, that it has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during a recent visit to Sweden and Denmark. The agreements are aimed at enhancing GRSE’s marine engineering capabilities and marking its entry into the expedition cruise vessel segment.

In Sweden, GRSE signed an MoU with Berg Propulsion, a prominent global supplier of marine propulsion technologies. The partnership will focus on jointly developing and manufacturing propulsion equipment and systems, with an emphasis on collaboration for ongoing and future government projects.

According to a filing with the stock exchange, “Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE), known for its expertise in marine engineering, has signed an MoU with Berg Propulsion, Sweden, a globally recognized manufacturer of propulsion systems.”

On June 6, GRSE also entered into a separate MoU with SunStone, a Denmark-based company specializing in expedition cruise vessels. The agreement outlines plans to work together on the design and development of new vessels in this category. “On June 6, 2025, GRSE signed an MoU with SunStone, Denmark, a key player in the expedition cruise market. This agreement paves the way for future cooperation in this segment,” the company stated.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) is one of India’s leading public sector shipyards, operating under the Ministry of Defence.
