Gromax Agri Equipment Ltd. (formerly Mahindra Gujarat Tractor Ltd.), a joint venture between Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and the Government of Gujarat, marks a major milestone by celebrating its 25th anniversary. This achievement underscores the company’s commitment to providing affordable mechanized solutions that empower farmers across India.
Originally named Mahindra Gujarat Tractor Ltd. in 1999 when Mahindra acquired a significant stake, the company rebranded as Gromax Agri Equipment Ltd. in 2017 to better align with its strategic goal of offering a unique and cost-effective range of farm equipment to India’s agricultural community. Over the last 25 years, Gromax has significantly expanded its tractor lineup, growing from just 4 models to more than 40 variants in the 20-50HP range, marketed under the TRAKSTAR (introduced in 2017) and HINDUSTAN brands, alongside farm implements under the TRAKMATE brand.
In celebration of its silver anniversary, Gromax launched new 4WD tractor models—the Trakstar 525 and Trakstar 536—along with updated 2WD tractor options in 24HP, 31HP, and 36HP categories, catering specifically to the orchard sector. To appeal to younger farmers and stand out in the market, Gromax has also introduced tractors in bold saffron and black color schemes.
Reflecting on the company’s 25-year journey, Hemant Sikka, President of the Farm Equipment Sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., commented, “This milestone year holds great significance for us at Mahindra & Mahindra. We are incredibly proud of Gromax’s growth and success over the last quarter-century. It is a true testament to our shared mission of transforming farming and enriching lives. Gromax has been committed to delivering high-quality, accessible, and affordable farm equipment to Indian farmers. We thank our customers, partners, the Government of Gujarat, and our employees for their continuous support. Looking ahead, we are excited to drive further growth and continue supporting Indian farmers in their mechanization journey.”
