Greenworks Bio has introduced a range of sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics, including compostable granules, eco-friendly tableware, and hygiene products designed to meet varied industrial demands. These innovative solutions, developed in collaboration with CSIR-IICT, use renewable resources such as starch and agricultural byproducts while adhering to strict compostability standards in India.

“This initiative is a significant step toward addressing plastic pollution and supports India’s mission to eliminate single-use plastics while fostering a circular economy,” stated Rishika Reddy, Director of Greenworks Bio.

The biocomposites offer superior tensile strength, reduced moisture sensitivity, and enhanced compostability, making them suitable for applications like packaging, carry bags, waste collection, and agricultural films. The products also feature high load-bearing capacity, thinner profiles to minimize material use, and improved transparency.

“These materials achieve over 90% biodegradation within 180 days under composting conditions,” Reddy noted. “By applying cutting-edge technologies co-developed with CSIR-IICT, we are contributing to meaningful solutions that reduce plastic waste and transform industry practices.”
