Greenply Industries Limited has launched Ecotec Prime, a new addition to its economy plywood portfolio featuring integrated fire-retardant and boiling waterproof technologies aimed at making advanced safety solutions more accessible across the affordable plywood segment. The company stated that Ecotec Prime combines IS 5509 certified fire-retardant technology with Boiling Waterproof (BWP) grade performance, offering dual protection against fire and moisture while maintaining affordability for residential and commercial applications.
Greenply said the launch addresses a longstanding gap in the economy plywood market, where advanced safety-oriented features have traditionally remained concentrated in premium product categories. The newly launched plywood range incorporates Fire Safe Technology designed to slow the spread of flames through the plywood core during fire incidents. According to the company, this feature can provide valuable additional response time during emergencies while helping reduce damage to interiors, furnishings, and structural installations.
Ecotec Prime also integrates Aqua Shield Technology with BWP-grade water resistance capable of withstanding up to 72 hours of boiling water exposure without delamination. The company stated that the product is suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, semi-wet areas, and applications requiring long-term moisture resistance.
In addition to fire and water protection, the product includes anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties intended to support healthier indoor environments. The plywood also features anti-termite and borer resistance for improved durability and structural stability over extended periods of use.
Greenply stated that precision calibration technology has been used to deliver a smooth and uniform surface finish while maintaining controlled E1-level formaldehyde emissions to support safer indoor air quality standards. Backed by a 20-year warranty, Ecotec Prime has been positioned as a durable and dependable solution for homes, offices, hospitals, hotels, malls, government infrastructure projects, and commercial spaces where both safety and performance are critical considerations.
