Essar Group’s GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd has announced a partnership with Flipkart to support the e-commerce giant’s efforts to decarbonize its delivery operations. As part of this collaboration, GreenLine will deploy its fleet of LNG-powered trucks to transport goods across key regional routes in India.

In the first phase, GreenLine will introduce 25 LNG-run trucks, each equipped with 46-foot containers capable of carrying up to 110 cubic meters (CBM) of cargo. These trucks will initially transport e-commerce goods, including both B2B and B2C loads, from western India to the northern region. Future plans include expanding operations to routes connecting North to South and West to South corridors.

This partnership aligns with Flipkart’s sustainability goals and complements its growing fleet of electric vehicles (EVs). Flipkart recently achieved a milestone of 10,000 EVs in its delivery network, integrating both LNG and EV-powered vehicles to reduce its carbon footprint.

Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions, highlighted the initiative’s significance, stating, “E-commerce is connecting opportunities and transforming lives, but it also increases environmental challenges. By deploying LNG-powered trucks, we’re making logistics greener and contributing to a cleaner future for India.”

Hemant Badri, SVP & Head of Supply Chain at Flipkart Group, emphasized the collaboration’s impact, saying, “Integrating LNG-powered vehicles with our existing EV fleet improves supply chain efficiency while supporting India’s environmental objectives.”

GreenLine has been a pioneer in sustainable mobility across various industries, including cement, steel, FMCG, and oil and gas. Over the past two years, its LNG initiatives have achieved a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to diesel vehicles, equivalent to cutting 7,398 tonnes of carbon emissions.

This partnership underscores Flipkart’s commitment to green innovation and sustainable operations, marking another step towards achieving long-term environmental goals.
