Graymont and Fortera have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at scaling up the production of Fortera’s ReAct™ low-carbon cement. This collaboration will leverage Graymont’s extensive lime production facilities and expertise in sustainable building materials.

Years of product testing, design validation, and close cooperation between the two companies have laid the foundation for this agreement. By tapping into Graymont’s global manufacturing network and robust supply chain, the partnership accelerates the widespread adoption of Fortera’s innovative technology.

The low-carbon cement developed through this collaboration is designed for use in all traditional cement applications, including infrastructure, construction, and industrial processes, while maintaining high durability and compliance with regulatory standards. Fortera’s ReAct™ low-carbon cement has already undergone over a decade of real-world testing and will soon be available in large-scale industrial production.

“What impressed us about Fortera is their focus on improving the existing cement industry rather than reinventing it,” said Stéphane Godin, President and CEO of Graymont. “After more than 75 years in the calcium solutions business, this partnership allows us to continue driving innovation with sustainable products for our customers.”

“Graymont’s decision to partner with us is a major endorsement of our technology,” said Ryan Gilliam, CEO of Fortera. “From the start, working with the Graymont team has been critical in refining our plant designs and scaling operations. Together, we are proving that it’s possible to reduce cement emissions in a cost-effective way.”

Fortera’s ReAct™ technology, combined with its ReCarb® process, will allow Graymont to significantly increase its production of low-carbon cement by recycling CO2, without requiring major changes to its existing infrastructure—an important factor that has traditionally hindered the adoption of new technologies.

Fortera’s flagship 15,000-ton-per-year ReCarb® facility in Redding, California, serves as a model for integrating sustainable cement production with existing infrastructure. This plant utilizes Fortera’s ReCarb® process to produce low-carbon cement at scale, offering a proof-of-concept for future deployments.

Fortera is a pioneering manufacturer of green cement, with its innovative ReCarb® technology transforming industrial CO2 into low-carbon cement. The process integrates seamlessly with existing cement production systems, optimizing machinery and feedstocks to create a scalable, sustainable solution for the global cement industry. Fortera’s ReAct™ green cement is market-ready, compliant with regulatory standards, and can replace or blend with traditional cement.
