GPS Renewables Pvt Ltd, a full-spectrum technology and engineering firm, has partnered with STEER Engineering, a global leader in advanced materials and extrusion technology, to create cutting-edge solutions for India’s BioCNG sector.

The collaboration aims to boost efficiency in feedstock processing and increase overall output, providing a significant advancement for the BioCNG industry. This joint effort will contribute to sustainable waste reduction, enhance energy security, and potentially save India up to USD 30 billion in oil imports by 2030.

As part of the collaboration, STEER Engineering will develop a 2.5-tonne-per-hour bio-processor specifically designed to process agro-residue and biomass materials such as paddy straw, mustard stalk, cotton stalk, maize, and Napier grass.

This state-of-the-art processor will help improve biofuel yields while reducing operational costs, according to a statement released by the companies. The bio-processor will play a crucial role in streamlining the pre-conditioning process for biomass and agro-residue feedstocks, which is expected to increase biofuel production efficiency.

Mainak Chakraborty, CEO of GPS Renewables, highlighted the transformative potential of this technology: “Our new bio-processor is designed to optimize performance and cut lifecycle costs, making it a game-changer for our projects and the broader biofuel sector.”

Nitin Gupta, CEO of STEER Engineering, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Our mission at STEER is to revolutionize renewable energy and biofuels through innovation and sustainability. This partnership aligns perfectly with our shared commitment to efficiency, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.”

India generates nearly 700 million tonnes of agro-residue and surplus biomass annually, and the government plans to harness this potential in the form of biofuels, making this collaboration a key step towards a greener future.
