The board of directors at Godrej Industries has approved the re-appointment of Tanya Dubash as its whole-time director. Dubash will be designated as the executive director and chief brand officer for a period of three years, from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2028, subject to shareholders’ approval, the company announced in an exchange filing on Friday.
The company clarified that Tanya Dubash is not barred from holding the office of director by any order from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) or any other authority, ensuring her eligibility for the position.
Dubash’s re-appointment comes at a time when Godrej Industries is navigating a challenging financial landscape. For the January-March quarter, the company reported a largely flat total income of Rs 5,103 crore compared to Rs 5,085 crore in the same period last year. However, it swung to a net loss of Rs 312 crore from a net profit of Rs 300 crore a year ago. A significant factor contributing to this loss was the company’s share of loss from equity-accounted investees, which amounted to Rs 402.13 crore, compared to a profit of Rs 208 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Tanya Dubash has been a pivotal figure in the Godrej Group, driving the brand strategy and ensuring the company’s alignment with contemporary market trends. Her continued leadership is expected to be instrumental in steering the company through its current financial challenges and setting a strategic direction for growth.
The board’s decision underscores their confidence in Dubash’s leadership and vision for the company. As Godrej Industries continues to focus on consolidating its market position and expanding its brand footprint, her role will be crucial in executing these strategic initiatives. Shareholders are expected to vote on her re-appointment in the upcoming annual general meeting.
