Godrej Industries Group has introduced the Youth Advisory Council program under the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) India. The initiative, launched in the presence of Burjis Godrej, Executive Director of Godrej Agrovet, and world-renowned primatologist Dr Jane Goodall, seeks to empower young leaders across India to spearhead impactful environmental and social initiatives through the Roots & Shoots program.
Roots & Shoots is a global movement by JGI that unites young individuals to drive environmental protection and community welfare. Council members will independently lead initiatives, contribute to program development, and enhance communications around sustainability and community action.
Speaking about the launch, Burjis Godrej, who will mentor the council, said, “This council embodies our belief in empathy and kindness. Through actions like environmental conservation, animal welfare, and other transformative initiatives, these young leaders will inspire meaningful change.”
Dr. Goodall emphasized her belief in youth as agents of hope, stating, “Young people give me hope. When they recognize issues and commit to making a difference, their efforts bring visible positive change. Even one goal pursued with determination can leave a significant impact.” Dr. Goodall also honored Roots & Shoots mentors Valerie Mascarenhas from Don Bosco School, Mumbai, and Vandana Pandey from YashVidyaMandir, Ayodhya, for their outstanding youth-led programs.
