Godrej Enterprises Group’s Energy Solutions division has completed the installation of a 2 MWp solar power plant for a major FMCG facility in Guwahati, Assam. This project contributes to India’s broader renewable energy target of reaching 500 GW of capacity by 2030 and aligns with Assam’s state goal of achieving 2,000 MW of renewable generation by 2025.

The solar installation is expected to produce around 2.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year, helping the facility reduce its carbon emissions by approximately 98.4 tons annually. The project is also expected to save the company nearly ₹1.4 crore per year in electricity costs. Designed for a 25-year operational lifespan, the plant will generate about 57,000 MWh of clean energy over its lifetime.

This is the first large-scale solar EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) project delivered by Godrej in the FMCG sector. According to Raghavendra Mirji, Executive Vice President and Business Head of Energy Solutions, the project demonstrates how industrial users can integrate renewable power to improve both environmental and operational outcomes.

The installation contributes to Assam’s renewable energy roadmap, which allocates 1,500 MW for utility-scale solar and 500 MW for rooftop and distributed solar systems. Godrej’s project supports the rooftop and distributed segment through a private-sector model.

Elsewhere, Godrej has developed several other large-scale solar projects. These include a 12.5 MWp rooftop solar plant—among the largest in India—commissioned in Madhya Pradesh, and a 25 MW ground-mounted solar facility in Dhule, Maharashtra, which is projected to generate 45 million units annually. These efforts reflect Godrej’s broader involvement in supporting state and national renewable energy programs across industrial sectors.
