Godrej Aerospace, part of the Godrej Enterprises Group, announced a new partnership with EOS, a leader in industrial 3D printing solutions, to develop an additive manufacturing (AM) ecosystem tailored to India’s aviation and space sectors. This collaboration marks a significant step in India’s technological advancement, offering the potential to overhaul manufacturing processes and establish the country as a key player in aerospace innovation globally.

Leveraging EOS’s extensive expertise and its position as the world’s largest AM technology provider in the space sector, this alliance combines cutting-edge technological knowledge with robust manufacturing capabilities. The goal of this partnership is to transform India’s aviation and space industries through AM-based designs and the production of high-performance products. Together, Godrej Aerospace and EOS plan to develop the necessary technical and production infrastructure to create a strong AM-focused supply chain for both Indian and international aerospace OEMs.

Maneck Behramkamdin, Executive Vice President and head of Godrej Aerospace, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, “This partnership marks a strategic move towards preparing for the future. 3D printing is revolutionizing aerospace design by allowing the creation of complex parts in a single step.”

The Godrej Enterprises Group is dedicated to expanding its range of environmentally-friendly products and enhancing manufacturing efficiency through reduced material use and streamlined production processes, Behramkamdin added. According to Godrej, 3D printing can reduce material usage by up to 80% and cut processing time by as much as 80%.

Vinu Vijayan, Director of EOS India, highlighted the transformative impact of AM on the space sector, saying, “We are already seeing the simplification of assemblies, where complex parts that once consisted of over 100 components are now reduced to just a few, simplifying assembly and cutting costs.”

Since its inception in 1897, Godrej Enterprises Group, which includes Godrej & Boyce and its affiliates, has been a key contributor to India’s economic development and self-reliance. The group has led the way in engineering innovation, design excellence, and sustainable manufacturing. From creating the world’s first patented springless lock and safes, to pioneering the production of Indian-made typewriters and refrigerators, Godrej Enterprises has played a significant role in shaping various industries.
