Swedish healthcare firm Getinge, with over 20 years of operations in India, is gearing up to expand its footprint across various healthcare segments, aiming to increase its market share in premium ventilators and other hospital technologies. Currently holding 30% of the premium ventilator market, the company plans to grow this share to 45% within the next five years.
To achieve this, Getinge is introducing new products across premium and mid-value categories. With its technology installed in over 2,000 hospitals, including major chains like Apollo and Fortis, Getinge is focused on providing cutting-edge solutions such as ventilators, sterilisers, operating lights, and tables. India’s ventilator market, estimated at ₹820 crore, is witnessing steady growth, with the premium segment projected to reach ₹37.3 crore in 2024, growing at an annual rate of 8.12%.
“India is a key growth market for us, and we’re investing in expanding our product portfolio and strengthening our distribution network,” said Aruna Nayak, Managing Director of Getinge India. “We aim to deepen our market presence in premium segments while ensuring that advanced healthcare technologies are accessible across all tiers of hospitals.”
In line with this vision, Getinge is set to launch advanced technologies, including a radio imaging tool for breast and thyroid surgeries and a high-end operating table for top-tier hospitals. These innovations are designed to meet the needs of healthcare facilities in metro cities as well as Tier-II and Tier-III towns.
With India’s pharmaceutical industry increasing its focus on sterile injectables and vaccines, Getinge is also ramping up its efforts in the life sciences sector. Though its current market share in sterile manufacturing is in the late single digits, the company expects growth of 30-35% in this area, driven by rising demand for sterile production technologies.
