General Mills India has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Nashik, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Indian food and bakery sector. The company invested approximately INR 100 crore in the plant, marking its second production facility in the region.
The new facility has been developed using advanced manufacturing technologies and global quality standards, with a strong emphasis on food safety, product consistency, and responsible resource utilization. The expansion strengthens General Mills’ manufacturing footprint in India and enhances its ability to meet growing demand.
The plant will improve supply chain efficiency by reducing lead times and increasing nationwide availability of Pillsbury products. Enhanced accessibility is expected to support thousands of bakeries across India by ensuring consistent supply and quality, contributing to the broader growth of the bakery sector.
Beyond operational expansion, the facility is anticipated to generate economic benefits for the Nashik region. It has created direct and indirect employment opportunities across manufacturing, logistics, and support services. Increased demand for raw materials and ancillary services is also expected to stimulate local supplier networks.
Balki Radhakrishnan, Vice President and Managing Director of Global Emerging Markets at General Mills, said the new plant strengthens the company’s ability to serve consumers and bakery partners across the country at greater scale and speed.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior company leaders, representatives from the US Consulate in Mumbai, and officials from the Government of Maharashtra, reflecting the strategic importance of the investment. The facility represents a continued commitment to India’s evolving food ecosystem, strengthening manufacturing capabilities while contributing to regional economic development and supply chain resilience.
