Gebrüder Weiss, an international logistics company, successfully transported an innovative solar-powered car and its equipment to Adelaide, Australia, for the aCentauri Solar Racing Team. The car will participate in the World Solar Challenge, a 3,000 km race from Darwin to Adelaide using only solar energy. Gebrüder Weiss’s expertise in coordinating land transport, air, and sea freight ensured a smooth journey, navigating complex Australian import regulations.

The cutting-edge solar-powered car of the aCentauri Solar Racing Team, set to participate in the World Solar Challenge, has arrived in Adelaide, Australia. Gebrüder Weiss, an international logistics company and official partner of the team, successfully transported the high-tech vehicle and its equipment to Australia. The intricate process involved a seamless coordination of land transport, air, and sea freight. The World Solar Challenge, scheduled to commence in Darwin on October 22, will witness students from ETH Zurich racing over 3,000 kilometers through the Australian outback to Adelaide, relying solely on solar energy.

The import of the custom-built solar car and its equipment posed unique challenges, including adherence to strict quarantine and customs regulations imposed by Australia to protect its local ecosystem. Martin Fernandes, Country Manager Australia at Gebrüder Weiss, noted, “To protect Australia’s unique flora and fauna from pests and diseases, the import of used goods is subject to strict quarantine and customs regulations. We had already prepared extensive documentation and certificates for the import, ensuring that the team could meet their race schedule.”
