Gebrüder Weiss global community of cycling enthusiasts surpassed expectations in this year’s GWcycles campaign, covering over 768,800 kilometers—equivalent to cycling to the moon and back. Between March and September, the logistics company Gebrüder Weiss launched its third and latest cycling campaign, aptly named “Cycling to the Moon and Back.”

Cyclists worldwide were invited to download the Radbonus app and log as many kilometers as possible on their bikes. “It’s clear that bicycle mobility is gaining popularity,” said Frank Haas, Head of Communications at Gebrüder Weiss. “And for good reason: cycling promotes physical activity, enhances personal health, and supports climate protection. I’m especially proud that we once again motivated so many people to contribute to a great cause. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated!”

A key benefit of the campaign is its positive environmental impact. For every kilometer cycled, climate protection efforts are supported. Thanks to the 2024 campaign, Gebrüder Weiss has planted 7,000 new trees in its corporate forest in Nicaragua. Since the initiative began in 2022, a total of 19,000 trees have been planted. Once fully grown, these trees are expected to absorb approximately 285 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere each year.
