GE Aerospace has announced plans to invest over €78 million in its manufacturing operations across Europe in 2025. This investment aims to boost production capacity, upgrade key facilities, and ensure high standards of quality for both commercial and defense sectors. It will also support the scaling up of next-generation components utilizing advanced materials and manufacturing techniques to improve the performance, durability, and efficiency of aircraft engines. The investment will create over 500 job opportunities across various European locations in 2025.

“This significant investment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to meeting the dynamic needs of the aerospace sector in Europe,” said Riccardo Procacci, President and CEO of Propulsion and Additive Technologies at GE Aerospace. “It underscores our dedication to supporting local communities and economies in the regions where we operate.”

A key portion of the investment will be directed towards expanding engine test cells, acquiring new equipment, and incorporating advanced technologies such as AI-driven inspection techniques. These advancements will enable the production of components for narrow- and widebody aircraft engines, as well as military fighter jets and helicopters.

The investment will be spread across five European countries, equipping suppliers with the latest manufacturing technology and specialized tools to reduce defects. The investment breakdown by country highlights significant upgrades and expansions across multiple locations. In Italy, a substantial €55.6 million is being allocated for new test cells, enhanced capabilities for existing cells, and advancements in inspection technology. The funding will also support the acquisition of new tooling and structural improvements across several sites, all dedicated to producing engines for both commercial aircraft and military fighter jets and helicopters.

In Poland, €11.6 million will be invested to introduce additional machines, equipment, and facility upgrades. This will bolster the production of aircraft engine components and military rotorcraft engines, strengthening the country’s role in the defense and aerospace sectors.

The Czech Republic is set to receive €5.4 million, which will be used to acquire new machines, equipment, and utility upgrades. These improvements are aimed at supporting the production of turboprop engine components, contributing to the country’s growing presence in the aviation manufacturing industry.

In the United Kingdom, €3.3 million will fund the purchase of new machines and production setups for manufacturing new components, along with equipment designed for servicing propeller systems. Romania will receive €2.3 million for similar upgrades, including new machines for creating complex metal shapes, alongside additional equipment, tooling, and building enhancements to improve overall production capabilities.

Following last year’s €64 million investment in manufacturing and a broader €122 million investment in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) and component repair facilities, this latest commitment further reinforces GE Aerospace’s investment in European workers, suppliers, and communities. It strengthens the company’s position as a key player in the European aerospace industry.

GE Aerospace also continues to support the development of a skilled workforce, backing various apprenticeship programs across Europe. For example, in the UK and Poland, these programs train approximately 100 individuals annually. Last year, GE Aerospace also expanded its Next Engineers program to Poland and supported the ITS Academy in Torino, Italy, to enhance its manufacturing training initiatives.
