Garuda Aerospace has set up a dedicated Agri-Drone manufacturing centre on the outskirts of Chennai to focus on the development and production of advanced unmanned aerial vehicles. This new facility marks a significant addition to the company’s existing infrastructure and will support the creation of 33 individual components and 7 critical subsystems for drones. The move aligns with the national vision of promoting homegrown technology under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
Located in Thalambur and spanning 35,000 square feet, the new unit was inaugurated by Kamlesh Paswan, Union Minister of State for Rural Development. The facility is designed to boost domestic capabilities in drone production and marks a step forward in scaling up innovation in agriculture-related drone applications.
Alongside the launch, Garuda Aerospace introduced 300 Centres of Excellence in partnership with academic and industry bodies across India. These centres will focus on research, training, and development in drone technologies.
A “Train-the-Trainer” program was also introduced to improve operational skills. Founder and CEO Agnishwar Jayaprakash emphasized that the company’s continued efforts are helping to strengthen India’s position in the global drone market. A live demonstration of agricultural drones was held to highlight the firm’s focus on practical innovation and self-sufficiency.
