Garuda Aerospace, a drone technology firm backed by cricketer M S Dhoni, announced its entry into the Sri Lankan market on Monday. The company plans to focus on enhancing agricultural practices in Sri Lanka while also exploring opportunities in homeland security and industrial applications.
As part of its global expansion strategy, Garuda Aerospace aims to leverage Sri Lanka’s strategic location and drone-friendly regulations. The company has ambitious plans to establish a presence in at least 50 countries over the next few years, allocating $10 million from its over Rs 100 crore revenue in FY24 to support this international growth.

Earlier this year, Garuda Aerospace partnered with Greek manufacturer Spirit Aeronautical Systems and signed an agreement with French aerospace giant Thales to foster growth and innovation in India’s drone industry. Spirit Aeronautical specializes in rotary and fixed-wing weaponized drones.
