Frost & Sullivan and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) will jointly host the 12 th edition of ‘Sustainability 4.0 Awards’, virtually on August 20, 2021, to recognize the efforts of companies in India that have successfully incorporated sustainability into their business and investment decisions.

The aim of the Sustainability 4.0 Awards is to recognize and honour the organizations that have successfully accelerated and stepped up their sustainability strategies even during the pandemic and strive to achieve excellence in sustainable development.

Sarwant Singh, Managing Partner and Regional Leader for the Middle East and South Asia at Frost & Sullivan, is hopeful that the awards will encourage more and more companies to embrace a structured sustainability program. "With digitalization and sustainability emerging as two of the most powerful market influencers in today's corporate landscape, the Sustainability 4.0 awards program evaluates and assesses the way organizations are merging their digitalization initiatives with the sustainability strategies, and suggest them the ways to be adopted for getting future-ready”, said Mr Singh.

As we continue to leverage our partnership with TERI, our commitment to increasing adoption of sustainability practices in business has received the much-needed push through this partnership”, he added.

Sharing his views about the impact of COVID19 on sustainability, Dr Ajay Mathur, Director General of TERI, commented, “Over the years, we have seen that companies that have embraced sustainability have also generated more value by using fewer resources, minimizing waste and as a result has emerged as better corporate citizens."

"As we move forward, we are looking at companies that are maximizing their profits and minimizing their waste management. Also, we are looking at companies that enhance their performance using sustainability as a tool”, added Dr Mathur.

Sustainability 4.0 Awards stresses the four pillars of sustainability namely Purpose, Partnership, Planet, and People. These elements form an integral part of any organization's sustainability agenda. The highest-scoring, top two companies of the year will be honoured with Super Achievers Award: ‘Sustainable Business of the Year’ and ‘Sustainable Business of the Year – 1st Runner-up’ Award, respectively. This year's awards will also include –Safety Excellence Awards, the Jury Special Mention Award, the Renewable Energy Consumption Index, and Sustainability Analytics.

The Safety Excellence Awards gives recognition to organizations across five key criteria – safety management, process safety, equipment safety, behavioural safety, and occupational health. The Jury Special Mention Award will be awarded to programs that are best-in-class, scalable, and replicable across industry verticals.

The Renewable Energy Consumption Index honours the industry's transition to RE while aligning with India's commitments under the Paris Agreement. Sustainability Analytics gauges how effectively the companies are using analytics in their sustainability management in three aspects: Effective Data Collection, Usage of Smart Analytical Tools, and End-to-End Visibility in the value chain.
